Carol, 9 hours agoYou are right until the point you're calling stollen tech, decent...that was never decent .Stolen is a big word. If you look at it that way, please think that actually our big friends in the US of A invented the concept of stealing tech on a corporate level and pressed themselves to patent it. So accusing China (and many more countries over the entire world) of adopting similar strategies would be, kind of, hypocrite. Throughout the history of mankind it was rarely the inventor who saw industrialisation and use of his/her thoughts. Never the less, Huawei became a master in creating devices that others like Samsung could only dream of achieving.
Oppo and Co is progressing at the same pace as Huawei when it comes to creating class leading devices, surpassing the top ranking ones. They aren't there yet but it's just a question of time.
I don't think this is fake news. Nokia have confirmed legal action/pursuit in a number of different market regions. If the situation isn't rectified, It's only a matter of time before Oppo devices are pulled from these regions.
I doubt it'd make good public relations if Oppo outright released press statements confirming the news. This would impact consumer confidence in their products in those territories. Therefore they'd naturally release PR statements disputing the rumors or claim an alternative reason. (Slow sales etc). This is classic text book PR.
Regardless, I hope for the sake of consumer choice and competitiveness/innovation, the issue is swiftly resolved. It'd be a shame to see any (stable) brand disappear, as this just limits choice.
this is not true now saying on twitter...

But I remember it is because perhaps Germany government forswore ir asseverate to Finland company they will be their best supporter that's why long time ago Germany so so much were advertising Nokia in Europe and managed to brake to USA ..
It is pure jealousy and unfortunately business interference . From sad nokia stand point it is jealousy Why Oppo should pay from their earnings to some loosers money for free ??🤷♂️ nokia should be really angry at apple as iphone basically wiped them from USA and replaced even in movies. Now u see everyone only using iphones in films not like Nokia when matrix movie boosted them so much.Everything in business has to do with jealousy when other company can't compete anymore
Carol, 9 hours agoNokia Name and patents, and nokia corporation ownes shares in hmd global.Yes, a 10.1% share or so - and other investors which include Google & Qualcomm.
I just wish Nokia had more input, influence & control over the HMD design/specs/quality, as we'd might then see the devices holding up to the esteemed (& in my opinion, prestigious!!) Nokia name.
notafanboy, 1 hour agoColorOS bad. Me not know why,but bad. And China bad too.Y know exactly why u saying this because u believe fake news on Internet so u naively thrn have such blind opinion you do what they tell you 🤷♂️
Anonymous, 9 hours agoColorOS is garbage, so I don't care. ColorOS bad. Me not know why,but bad. And China bad too.
This is a poorly written article, I must say. The Chinese source article mentions that Oppo is pulling out of the UK because of lack of sales, and out of Germany too due to the amount of loyalty Oppo would have to continue paying to Nokia to operate in that country (again implying it's not generating
enough profit), but will CONTINUE OPERATING in the rest of the Europe. The first tweet doesn't include any proof for its claim and the second one has been deleted already, so neither of them can be considered as a reliable source! France and Netherlands part is a baseless BS.
This is not a ban; Oppo is exiting from these two countries despite being given an opportunity to keep selling its products because it's not making enough money in Europe to begin with. Sooner or later, this would have happened eventually even if Nokia had not sued them in the first place.
Shiny Dave, 13 hours agoWhy I stick with Samsung now. Not because they are better (they often aren't, only occasi... moreif I am buying a €1000 phone, it is not just the specs on paper and how good camera it has on reviews. €1000 is a long time commitment to have the best experience (even the device needs repairs) even after 3, 4 or 5 years. that requires investment and dedication from the brand. that is why Chinese flagships don't worth flagship prices. although they try to ignore, they are simply placed below samsung and apple flagships. xiaomi, huawei, oppo, vivo still only focus on releasing new phones, not better after-sales experience.

I seriously don't like when the article isn't mentioning everything.

Anders, 8 hours agoNo one in Europe buy BBK phones anyway so this is hardly a big loss for BBK or consumersExactly. The decision to pull out from markets is probably due to lack of signicant revenues from those markets in the first place.
